STOUT Inspiration + Action To Accelerate Your Week
Use Brené Brown’s inspiring philosophy on vulnerability and courage and our Stout Action Plan to grow to your next level.
Dr. Brené Brown is a best-selling author and research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work.
She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy and her TEDtalk on “The Power of Vulnerability” is one of the most viewed in the world.
Her bottom line belief that “vulnerability – the willingness to be “all in” even when you know it can mean failing – is brave” offers a powerful call to find what you believe is worth doing and “go big” in pursuit of that goal.
Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.

❶ Embrace Discomfort & Fear
They are growth signs. Adjust your mindset to recognize their importance in the process of change and use them as fuel to move you forward.
❸ Make One Radical Change
Dig deep and take a step outside your box. The resulting shift in perspective can reveal the next step to take you up a level-or open up a whole new path.
❷ Announce Your Intent
Tap into Brown’s power in vulnerability by declaring your goal to an audience. Whether friends, family or a startup Facebook group, put your intentions out there and you’ll be surprised at the support that comes rushing in!
(Our Pivot to Pitch panelist Maruxa Murphy notes her call to Facebook fellows was the momentum behind her startup Perky!Perky!)
