INSPIRATION
George Addair was a speaker, author and philosopher. After humble beginnings in the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia and service during the Korean War, Addair began Religious Studies, became an ordained minister and founded founded the First Baptist Church in Page, Arizona. But feeling that many of the beliefs being taught were limiting to people, George left the church and began a deep study of teachings from a wide variety religions and philosophies.
Inspired by French Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s, “The Omega Point”, (a theory of man’s evolution to higher levels of consciousness) George found his life’s purpose in the creating of Omega Vector, a program dedicated to teaching a philosophical approach to examining one’s life to gain self-knowledge and live a more effective life.
Though Addair eschewed publicity and fanfare, his quiet life of teaching others over the course of almost four decades engaged and encouraged over 65,000 students who in turn have contributed to carrying on his inspiring philosophical work.
ACTION
❶ Hold Up The Mirror
The hardest place to look is often at ourselves, but an deep and honest examination of what’s going on inside is the best starting ground for defining how you might be standing in your own way.
❷ Envision Your Win
Pushing past your roadblocks or walls is easier if you have a solid view of what’s on the other side. Make a board, write a list, record a video- use whatever medium works for you to create a very real picture of your goal.
❸ Take One Action ASAP
Take a deep breath….and move towards the fear. Define ONE small starting step, reach out and grab that handhold. Then look for the next one and keep climbing until you’re over that hurdle to the other side.
