What qualities make an underdog rise?
In over 20 years of public relations experience, I’ve helped countless high profile VIPs and celebrities land in the mainstream spotlight. I’ve also supported the process of unknown “underdogs” becoming known to a global audience.

For those who have succeeded in capturing the attention of the world, elevating their image and building their authority, I would say that what they have in common is a solid PR strategy.

They also have dedication, enthusiasm and a persistent mindset when it comes to their publicity efforts and integrating PR strategies on a consistent year-round basis.

We often have to work through some mindset and spiritual alignment shifts to truly be aligned when stepping into the spotlight.

The biggest mistake that I see business owners and creatives making is waiting to implement PR—or doing a little bit and then stopping. Publicity is all about the long-game and relationship-building.

My clients that have managed to go from unknown to known have also fully embraced their journey into high visibility and been willing to do the deep soul searching work.

There are many limiting beliefs and self-doubts that can arise as people put themselves out there in a bigger way, so that’s why we often have to work through some mindset and spiritual alignment shifts to truly be aligned when stepping into the spotlight.

What is something you can do today to hone your resiliency?
Working with my clients to be more resilient, is a skill I use often. As a Certified Professional Coach with over 10 years of experience working with executives and business owners, I’ve seen how essential resiliency is for my clients ultimate success in reaching their goals. My most successful clients, the ones that have longevity in their careers and businesses, are able to quickly recover after setbacks or disappointments.

Individuals that are resilient are like a dog with a bone, relentlessly coming back home to that original core purpose for being in business and don’t get caught up in a past failures.

Business is full of factors that are out of our control, shifting landscapes and new competitors, but it’s how one recovers that make the difference. Individuals that are resilient are like a dog with a bone, relentlessly coming back home to that original core purpose for being in business and don’t get caught up in a past failures. Tapping into their feelings of why they got into business in the first place, what values are they serving by serving others are the resilient skills that help get clients back on track.

Another practice among resilient people is their ability to tap into peak experiences and remembering how they shined in a particular area or situation and remembering who they were being, doing and thinking in those moments. My role as coach is to help my clients get into vibrational alignment with what they desire and leave what doesn’t serve them out of the picture. That is true resiliency.

What are the top three qualities you see in a champ?
Everyone wants to be a winner, but do you really have what it takes to be a champ? What I have witnessed in working with hundreds of heart-centered entrepreneurs is that being a champ takes commitment, caring and cause. Champs never, ever give up. They may pivot, but they don’t quit. Without a fierce commitment to what they are championing, the idea of dropping out of the game becomes all too easy to entertain.

A champ knows their “why”, loves their people, and stays the course until the final moment.

It’s not easy to be a champ, so one has to be all in, and it’s got to be worth it. A true champ is certain to have every fiber of their being tested. Frequently confronted with their own limitations and fear, they must decide who they will be in the face of it. As Nelson Mandela said, “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

In addition to commitment to the goal, champs equally care for their people and the greater cause at play. They put humanity and those in their care first and foremost, as they know nothing they do will be truly meaningful without them. People are fiercely loyal to champs that make them feel honored, appreciated and cared for. Finally, without a greater cause in the center of it all, any leader’s efforts will fade with the next passing trend. A champ knows their “why”, loves their people, and stays the course until the final moment.

How Does One Develop a Winning Formula?
There have been times in each of our lives where we have felt like an underdog but despite our past failures, there is a winning formula to move from losing to winning the game of life. We must learn to own our F.A.T. to create our personalized winning formula.

A true winning formula requires that you abandon fear to celebrate and embrace who you will become.

Feelings= Acknowledge your feelings
Feelings are a major component in creating a winning formula. Feelings help us to internally process people, events or experiences. Traumatic experiences create feelings of rejection, powerlessness and sadness; however, instead of acknowledging our pain we attempt to convenience ourselves that our feelings are wrong and should be silenced. This process creates internal conflict that emotionally stops our progress. We must acknowledge our feelings to create a winning formula.

Actions=Take responsibility of your actions
Actions create results; therefore, a winning formula must include action. Knowledge alone does not move you from the losing team to a winning team. Knowledge plus action is key in the creation of your personalized winning formula.

Transformation=Visualize Your Transformation
A true winning formula requires that you abandon fear to celebrate and embrace who you will become. You cannot focus on your failures instead you must focus on what you want to become. Visualize your transformation and embrace your unique qualities to create your personalized winning formula. Winning is what you define it to be; therefore, your winning formula will be the life you design. You can re-write your transformation into a winning formula.
